Planet 13: The World’s Largest Cannabis Dispensary

If you haven’t been paying attention, cannabis has become quite a big deal over the past few years. You can even go as far as saying that it is all the rage right now. Even more so than Starbucks coffee or Red Bull energy drink.

When it comes to this centuries-old plant, there is no shortage of options in the marketplace to get you high or give you comfort from what might be ailing you.

According to the Alcohol and Drug Foundation, cannabis is also known by a slew of other names like marijuana, dope, ganja, hash, pot, weed and chronic to name a few. Regardless of what you choose to call it, there is a better than average chance you can find one of these derivatives at Planet 13 in Las Vegas.

About Planet 13

If you’ve contemplated a visit to Vegas, you best set aside some time to check out Planet 13. In other states that have legalized cannabis and all accompanying products, you can walk into a shop and get what you need. It will likely be small, quaint and the workers will be friendly and laid back.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing. But, there’s not much punch involved. If you are looking to have your world rocked, then look for Planet 13, just off the Vegas Strip the next time you are in town. Here is a little more detail about what makes this place what it is.

Planet 13: Las Vegas Dispensary

Planet 13

Options are good to have when you step foot into a dispensary. And given the size of Planet 13, you will not be disappointed by lack of selection when you walk through the doors. If you can think of some form of cannabis product, you will likely find it here,

This is a one-stop shop for weed, vapes, edibles, oils, topicals, products with high CBD, high THC, high CBD and THC, and the list goes on. If you are on a quest for a cannabis destination vacation, Planet 13 has you covered.

Planet 13: Entertainment Features

Just selling you goods that will make you high or feel better isn’t good enough for Planet 13. They want to take it one step further and give you an actual experience when you come to visit. There is no other dispensary like this currently.

It takes up 40,000 square feet of space–16,500 of which is solely dedicated to the selling of cannabis products. Additionally, there are 45 to 50 registers to accommodate customers, using this space to buy their products.

But, here’s where things get even more interesting. You get shocked value through the medium of entertainment when you step foot into Planet 13.

They have constructed 15-foot faux lotus flowers on the roof that are made out of acrylics and metal. As a guest, you can control these flowers and cause them to light up at will.

There is also an electronic floor system that lights up when you walk across it, making it an experience like none other. Lastly, you can sit back and watch as these 3D aerial orbs fly above you on the main floor. At the very least, you will surely be entertained when coming to the dispensary, even if you do not end up buying anything.

Planet 13: Popular Cannabis Strains

Planet 13

A “strain” is a derivative of cannabis. Think of it as the ethnicity of a person. You have people who are Italian, English, Polish, Lithuanian, German and the list goes on and on. They all are humans that have human characteristics, but they also have different bloodlines, which makes them unique.

Well, the same can be said about cannabis strains. They have a similar look and appearance but offer you a different experience when you use them. Here are some of the options that Planet 13 offers.

Durban Poison

There are two main types of cannabis–indica and sativa. The rule of the thumb is that sativa derivatives give you more of a boost in mental acuity and energy, while indica puts you more in a subdued state. (Although, this has never been scientifically proven).

Durban poison is not poison at all. It’s a strain of sativa that derives from the town of Durban, which is in South Africa. This particular bud has a sweet smell and smooth flavor that is perfect if you are looking for an uplifting and creative experience. You can find this option in such flavors as spicy anise and sweet lemon candy.

Some of the known benefits of Durban include appetite stimulation, nausea relief, and migraine suppression.

Blue Dream Strain

Blueberries are heralded as superfoods that come with a host of benefits to the body. According to the National Institutes of Health, the anthocyanins that they contain have been known to help improve memory and cognitive function.

That makes it a good idea to supplement your diet with these little berries on a daily basis.

Fast forward to blue dream and this strain carries with it a blueberry-like aroma that also gives you comfort if you are depressed, nauseous or in pain. It is a hybrid of sativa and indica, with a little more dominance in the sativa direction.

It costs $18 per gram and does not give you a major sedative effect if that is something that concerns you.

Banana OG

If the taste of bananas resonates with you, then you might want to try some banana OG at Planet 13. This indica strain gives off a smell of overripe bananas with a taste to match. If you’re into botany, it’s a cross between a banana and OG kush of the indica family.

With a 25% THC content, banana OG is sure to bring you down really fast. That’s what makes it a good option for insomnia and muscle soreness. If you do happen to suffer from insomnia specifically, there are a few other home remedies you can look into as well.

The Mayo Clinic suggests meditation, yoga, tai chi and acupuncture as alternative treatments for this condition.

Feel free to experiment to see what plan of attack works best for you. Perhaps you can try a little bit of them all after using banana OG.

Candy Jack

Candy jack is a sativa-dominant crossbreed of Skunk #1 and Jack Herer. It has a citrus-like, sweet aroma and can give you a quick mood lift if you are feeling down. It is also known for its positive effect on boosting appetite and easing depression. It costs $20 per gram and has even won some Cannabis Cup awards.

A Dub Strain

Dubstep is a type of dance music that one might call groovy and happening. The A dub strain might just make you want to dance, but it has nothing to do with music. It does, however, have to do with a balance of indica and sativa that gives you the best of both worlds so to speak.

It derives from a host of plants that include sour double, sour diesel, Allen technology, and chemdawg. Together, they make A dub a good option if you are looking to heighten your creativity, while also experiencing a happy, euphoric buzz. You can get this strain at Planet 13 for $20 a gram.

Blue Alien Strain

If you are looking for a good night’s sleep and indica is your bag, then Blue Alien should be your hookup. This strain not only puts you into a subdued mood, but it also calms your nerves. Plus, since it is a blend of blueberry hybrids, it has a sweet, pleasant aroma once it’s lit up.

It should also be known that alien kush is the other part of the hybrid used to make this strain. It costs $20 per gram and is best used in the evening.

Planet 13 Dispensary

There is a difference between getting your fix and being entertained. Anyone can stroll into a dispensary, get their merchandise and go their merry way. But if you want an actual “experience,” then you need to go to Planet 13.

Where else can you get a blend of showbiz and all the cannabis options you can think of in one spot?

Plus, since it IS in Vegas, you can go visit the strip or do any number of other touristy things that outsiders do when they come to town. Just be aware of the laws and abide by them to a tee. You always want to party safely.

And one last thing. All the strains offered at Planet 13 come in eighths. These are 3.5-g doses that are often fancied by people looking for a deal and who are perhaps going to a party. Since you get these in bulk, they end up being cheaper per gram than if you would buy something by a single dose.

Blue alien, for example, is $18 per gram or $52 for an eighth. If you want to go bigger while saving some money, keep this in mind.
