How to Make CannaButter Cookies!
If you do not wish to directly smoke marijuana, then CannaButter cookies are the ideal way to go. If well prepared, CannaButter cookies have the same effect as smoking marijuana. However, eating CannaButter cookies brings about a stronger and more long-lasting effect in making you high.
The skill of preparing excellent CannaButter cookies is not hard if the steps are followed keenly. In preparation of CannaButter cookies, you will be required to prepare CannaButter, or cannabis-infused butter, and then use the butter to prepare the cookies.

1. Gather your ingredients

- 2/3 cup of brown sugar
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
- 2 cups of chocolate chips
As stated earlier, you will need to prepare the butter, before using the butter to prepare the cookies. The first three mentioned ingredients will specifically be used in the preparation of the CannaButter. The rest of the ingredients will be used in preparation of the cookies.
2. Heat your marijuana to extract THC
Heating your cannabis is an important step toextract its psychoactive properties, the THC. If not heated, or if chewed raw, cannabis cannot bring the ‘high’ feeling to your body.
Set up a double boiler that will be used to melt the butter. Put a stock pan on a stove. Add water to fill 1/3 of the pot. Cover the pot with a bowl that overlaps the edges of the pots. The bowl should be deep enough to touch the water in the pot, or to be very close to the water.
3. Use the double boiler to melt butter
Put your sticks of butter into the bowl covering the stock pot. When the water in the pan below the bowl heats up, it will melt the butter. A few things you should keep in mind while melting your butter are:
- Retain your heat on low to medium
- Do not allow the butter to boil
While the butter is still melting, you could start preparing your marijuana.
4. Prepare a marijuana tea bag
Use a cheesecloth to wrap up your marijuana. Place the cheesecloth on a flat and clean surface. Fold it into quarters. Folding it into quarters will make the piece of cheesecloth thick enough to prevent escaping of the marijuana.
Put your marijuana at the center of the folded cheesecloth. Roll the cheeseclothto completely cover the marijuana. Use cooking twines to fasten the cheesecloth. Voila! You have your marijuana tea bag.
5. Dip your marijuana tea bag into the melted butter
Use a metal spoon to dip your marijuana into the melted butter. Alternatively, you could fold it into a smaller size so that it fits into the bowl.
Add hot water to the butter. The hot water will help ensure the entire marijuana tea bag is covered, and also help extract THC from the marijuana.
THC is fat soluble. It will, therefore,be dissolved by the butter, and not the hot water you just added.
6. Cover your CannaButter in an airtight and heat proof container
Put your CannaButter in a container and let it steep for 3 to six hours. The longer it steeps, the stronger you CannaButter will become. If you want a mild CannaButter, let it steep for three hours. If you want a strong one, then steeping for six hours will be ideal.
After steeping, remove the tea bag from the butter. The butter should be greenish. Let the CannaButter cool to room temperature before refrigerating it. Leave the CannaButter to refrigerate overnight, or for a few hours. Drain any excess water that the CannaButter may have. Your CannaButter is now ready for the preparation of cookies.
7. Sift flour together with baking soda and salt
Add one and a third cup of flour with a quarter teaspoon of baking soda and a quarter teaspoon of salt. Mix these dry ingredients in a big bowl using a whisk. Thoroughly mix the ingredients to create an even mixture. Set the mixture aside.
8. Mix the CannaButter with sugar
Use ½ cup of CannaButter, 2/3 of brown sugar and a third of granulated sugar to create cream. While making the cream, it is recommended that:
- The CannaButter be at room temperature
- You mix these ingredients until the cream is fluffy
- Use a hand mixer in mixing
Add 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract and an egg to the cream. Beat the mixture using a hand whisk until they form a uniform consistency.
9. Add chocolate chips
Add 1 ½ cups of chocolate mixture to the cream. Use a spoon to mix the mixture until chocolate chips are evenly distributed in the cream mixture.
10. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients
Add the dry ingredients you had set aside to the cream mixture. As you add the dry ingredients to the cream mixture, thoroughly stir using a spoon. Stir the mix of the dry and wet ingredients until you form a consistent dough.
11. Bake the cookies
Scoop the dough according to the sizes you prefer and put it on a baking pan sprayed with non-stick spray. If you want large cookies, scoop a large amount of dough. For small cookies, scoop a small amount of dough. Ensure the cookies are evenly distributed on the baking pan.
For smaller cookies, bake your cookies at 3750 for 10 to 12 minutes. For larger cookies, bake them at 3250 for 18 to 25 minutes.
